The GyroDial “Indo Arabique” is a symbol of paradise and peace as well

Every year, Byrne Watch aims to present a limited series that refers to the current year, thus for 2023, the marque is releasing the GyroDial “Indo Arabique” which is limited to only 23 pieces. What’s more, the petroleum green dial is a symbol of paradise in the Arab world and a symbol of peace in the Hindu world.

There is whimsy in the way co-founder, John Byrne works. He wanted to bring a vibrant colour to the collection, but the artistic sensibility goes beyond the fact that green is deeply rooted in the Hindu-Arabic worlds. This not only features on the watch dial, but also serves as the personal fascination for the design of the characters from these cultures, both aesthetically and graphically.

Different Day, Different Dial

Moreover, at midnight or noon every day (or whenever your heart desires),  the 4 cardinal indices, at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, rotate to reveal a different face.  Hindu-Arabic, Roman, Arabic numerals or “phantom” indices. The switch also happens in a flash, giving the watch a completely different look each time so it stays looking fresh forever.

John Byrne, watchmaker and co-founder of the brand, stated, “It’s impossible to determine the exact nuance of colour until the rhodium plating stage is completed at the end of the process. We attach immense importance to our dials, which are never painted, only rhodium-plated. This brings a singular design to our watches, with a sleek, contemporary look that has become our hallmark.”

As with every Byrne Watch, the highlight of the GyroDial “Indo Arabique” is its theme, which in this case, is the Hindu-Arabic “zero”. The Orient, the West, Swiss excellence, Hindu-Arabic culture.This limited edition brings all these and more together in one stylish and meaningful package.

In summation, the GyroDial “Indo Arabique” is one watch but offers four looks. With this bespoke approach, Byrne Watch has invented what can only be described as the evolving watch. This means that you can always have a different watch in the same watch that looks different whenever you want it to.
