Prime Video has announced that Blade Runner 2099, the next chapter in the acclaimed sci-fi franchise, will premiere globally on 25 November 2026. All eight episodes of the limited series will be available to stream exclusively on the platform in more than 240 countries and territories.

The announcement was made during the platform’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where more than 6,500 fans were treated to the series’ first teaser trailer. Cast members Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer appeared alongside showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson to discuss the long-awaited series.

Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the story returns to a transformed Los Angeles where humanity no longer holds complete control. The series follows Cora, a fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner for one final mission. She is forced to work alongside Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her lifespan, as they pursue a mysterious runaway whose secrets threaten the fragile balance of their city.

Joining Yeoh and Schafer are series regulars Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben, with recurring appearances from Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi, among others.

The series is led by Luisa as showrunner and executive producer, with Ridley Scott serving as executive producer. The first two episodes are directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, whose recent credits include Shōgun.

Expanding the universe established by the original 1982 film and Blade Runner 2049, Blade Runner 2099 promises a new mystery set against the franchise’s signature blend of futuristic noir, artificial intelligence and existential drama. Fans can stream the complete season when it arrives on Prime Video this November.
