Palais Hansen Vienna

Anantara Hotels has officially arrived in Austria with the grand reopening of the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna, a revitalised 19th-century palace reborn as the city’s first urban luxury resort. Originally designed by architect Baron Theophil Edvard von Hansen for the 1873 World’s Fair, the historic building has undergone an extensive transformation, blending imperial grandeur with modern sophistication and the brand’s signature Asian-inspired hospitality.

Located on the prestigious Ringstrasse, the former residential and government building returns to its roots as a hotel, now offering 152 elegantly renovated guest rooms and suites. Soaring ceilings, oversized windows, and a serene palette of warm neutrals characterise the interiors, while features such as marble bathrooms, Acqua di Parma amenities, and triple-glazing ensure comfort and tranquillity.

Select suites include balconies with sweeping views, and the Presidential Suite—the largest in Vienna at 270 square metres—offers a grand piano, wellness area, and can expand to a four-bedroom residence.

Food And More

Culinary excellence is a major highlight, with three distinctive venues. The Michelin-starred Edvard is led by chef Paul Gamauf, known for his sustainable and seasonal tasting menus. Theo’s Lounge & Bar evolves from a classic Viennese café by day to a vibrant cocktail destination by night, while Brasserie Sophie presents Austrian cuisine with a cosmopolitan twist.

Wellbeing takes centre stage at the 800-square-metre Anantara Spa, where Eastern and Western philosophies merge. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, Hammam steam bath, and high-tech wellness therapies using Valmont and Elemis products. A modern fitness centre and nearby jogging routes complement the wellness offering.

Guests can explore Vienna on foot or through curated experiences such as historic tours with Hansen experts, visits to the Lobmeyr atelier, and vineyard excursions complete with local food and wine. On-site, the popular Spice Spoons cooking classes introduce guests to traditional Austrian dishes like semolina dumpling soup and Kaiserschmarren.

With Vienna’s largest ballroom, multiple meeting spaces, and bespoke event services, the hotel also caters to weddings and corporate gatherings. Just a 25-minute drive from Vienna International Airport, Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna welcomes guests from EUR 550 per night, including breakfast.
