Have You Heard Of The VOYAH Auto Brand From China
Share
This is brand that is going to make a lot of noise on social media when it arrives with its ‘bling’ interior and exterior. Voyah is a relatively new brand and it is the high-end, intelligent New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand established under state-owned Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
Created in 2019 and officially launched in mid-2020, Voyah represents Dongfeng’s strategic push into the luxury electric vehicle sector to compete against modern NEV startups (such as NIO, Li Auto, Denza, GWM WEY and also XPeng). It is also targeting traditional premium automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and even Lexus.
For decades, Dongfeng Motor Corporation built its reputation on commercial vehicles, mass-market passenger cars and joint ventures (e.g., Dongfeng-Honda, Dongfeng-Nissan, Dongfeng-Renault). However, as China emerged as the world’s largest market for electrification, Dongfeng recognized the necessity of establishing a dedicated, top-tier NEV subsidiary to capture higher profit margins and elevate its brand positioning.
The English name Voyah derives from Voyage, representing discovery and exploration. The traditional Chinese name Lántú (岚图) translates to “grand blueprint” or “promising vision.” The brand’s logo is inspired by the Kunpeng, a mythical giant bird (seen on the front of each vehicle) from classic Chinese philosophy (Zhuangzi’s Free and Easy Wandering). The outspread wings represent soaring vision, strength and continuous ascent.
In 2020, following Renault’s exit from the Dongfeng-Renault joint venture, Dongfeng repurposed the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Wuhan, Hubei, to serve as the main production center for Voyah.
Did you know that Voyah entered Europe the first time via Norway in 2022. Following positive adoption, the brand expanded into Southern Europe, including Italy, Spain and Portugal where they established direct sales networks and localized flagship showrooms.
Then, Voyah launched across major automotive markets including Israel, Belarus, Turkey, Lebanon, and the UAE, catering to luxury buyers seeking high-performance electric mobility.
So, backed by Dongfeng’s 50+ years of automotive manufacturing experience and supply chain leverage the Voyah brand is now offering both Pure EV and Range-Extended models (PHEV) to ensure strong sales performance in markets with evolving charging infrastructure. They continue to have partnerships with leading technology providers (Huawei, CATL, Italdesign) accelerate software and battery integration.
