In 2025, Royal Selangor marks a monumental milestone, it’s 140th anniversary. To celebrate this legacy, the brand launched Spirit of Artistry, a year-long tribute to the creativity and passion that have defined its journey since 1885. With a perfect blend of craftsmanship and innovation, this anniversary campaign brings history to life through a series of bold and artistic expressions.

Heritage Meets Modern Art

Royal Selangor collaborates with acclaimed local graffiti artists Abdul Rashade, Iskandar and Adi Azwan of Wise Works Collective to bring history into the present. Their vibrant, contemporary designs breathe new life into Royal Selangor’s heritage, blending traditional craftsmanship with bold, modern art.

Honoring Legacy 

Part of the celebrations include a restored Volkswagen Transporter (Kombi van). A symbol of Royal Selangor’s growth in the ’70s and ’80s, it takes center stage in the anniversary celebrations. Driven by Soh Eng, wife of second-generation founder Yong Peng Kai, this van was once used to deliver pewter to dealers, making it a nostalgic symbol of the company’s pioneering spirit.

Blending Past And Present 

The anniversary visuals of the mural seamlessly combine past and present, with archival elements subtly incorporated into modern designs. From vintage props to subtle references to Royal Selangor’s earliest creations, the campaign highlights the timelessness of the brand’s artistry.

The Spirit of Artistry: A Timeless Journey exhibition is the centerpiece of Royal Selangor’s 140th anniversary celebrations. Located at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, the exhibition showcases key milestones in the brand’s history. Visitors can explore historic signboards, vintage brochures, and iconic moments that helped shape Royal Selangor’s identity.
