Mandai Rainforest Resort

Banyan Group has officially opened the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, marking not only the company’s 100th global property, but also its long-awaited debut in Singapore. Located within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the resort becomes the first in the world to sit within a major nature and wildlife destination in the heart of a capital city.

The launch is a significant homecoming for the Singapore-founded hospitality group. “As we mark our 100th hotel with our first in Singapore, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree represents a deeply meaningful homecoming,” said Eddy See, President and CEO of Banyan Group.

He highlighted the resort as an embodiment of the Group’s hospitality philosophy, blending immersive design with sustainability and positive community impact. Guests, he added, are invited to “slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience travel as a force that uplifts people, places, and communities.”

A Resort Immersed In The Forest

Set across 4.6 hectares of natural greenery, the resort has been designed with a strong emphasis on biophilia—the idea that people thrive when connected to nature. Elevated architecture helps protect the site’s natural terrain, including mature trees that have been preserved as part of the landscape.

Guests arriving at the resort are greeted by two significant trees: a 12-metre Rain Tree and an Indian Beech tree, both forming part of the resort’s identity. One of the standout features is a collection of elevated treehouses, crafted to resemble the seed pods of the Purple Millettia.

Suspended within the forest canopy, these structures offer sweeping views of the Upper Seletar Reservoir while allowing vegetation to grow naturally underneath. The main resort building rises vertically through the forest, with rooms and suites overlooking the rainforest, gardens, and water.

Interior design draws inspiration from the rainforest’s layers, featuring artwork by Singaporean artist Donna Ong and antique illustrations of native wildlife species.

Nature Experiences

The resort’s signature restaurant, Forage, sits overlooking the reservoir and features a Harvest-to-Table approach, using ingredients from its rooftop edible garden and local producers. The rooftop also houses a pool, an observation deck, and a Discovery Forest filled with saplings that reflect the area’s once-common forest types.

Guests can unwind at the Banyan Tree Spa, where treatment pods draw design inspiration from the native Sunda pangolin. The resort also includes a rainforest-themed playground, offering nature-led play for children.

With close access to Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Bird Paradise, and the newly opened Curiosity Cove, the resort strengthens the Mandai Wildlife Reserve as a full-day—and now multi-day—destination for families, nature lovers and international visitors.
