Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for Young Sherlock, an eight-episode series that reimagines the early years of one of fiction’s most enduring characters. Directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, the series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a younger, more impulsive version of Sherlock Holmes, long before he becomes the famed detective of Baker Street.
Set against the backdrop of Victorian England, Young Sherlock explores the formative experiences that shape Holmes’ sharp intellect and rebellious streak. The story begins when a defiant teenage Sherlock crosses paths with James Moriarty, setting off a murder investigation that quickly escalates beyond his control. What starts as his first case soon unfolds into a far-reaching conspiracy, taking Sherlock beyond London and into a world of danger, intrigue and moral reckoning.
It’s All Elementary…
Ritchie’s signature style brings a dynamic edge to the series, blending fast-paced storytelling with character-driven mystery. While the familiar elements of the Sherlock Holmes universe are present, the focus is firmly on transformation — charting how youthful arrogance, curiosity and raw instinct evolve into the calculating brilliance the character is known for. The series presents Sherlock not as a finished icon, but as a young man navigating uncertainty, consequence and identity.
The cast features an ensemble of established and emerging talent, including Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons and Colin Firth. Guy Ritchie directs the first two episodes, setting the tone for the series, while showrunner Matthew Parkhill leads the project alongside an experienced team of executive producers.
Produced by Motive Pictures, Young Sherlock balances period drama with contemporary energy, offering a fresh entry point for new audiences while appealing to long-time fans of the detective’s mythology. By focusing on the moments before legend, the series reframes a familiar story through a more human, restless lens.
All eight episodes of the series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 4, 2026. Check out the trailer for Young Sherlock below.
