Prime Video has confirmed that Elle, the upcoming prequel to the Legally Blonde franchise, will premiere worldwide on 1 July, streaming in more than 240 countries and territories. Ahead of its release, the platform has also greenlit a second season, signalling early confidence in the series’ direction.
Set years before Elle Woods steps into Harvard Law, Elle explores her high school life, tracing the experiences that shaped her confidence, optimism and sense of self. Framed as a coming-of-age story, the series focuses on personal growth, ambition and kindness — core traits that made the character a cultural icon.

Produced by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios, the series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, who first brought Elle Woods to the screen in 2001. Witherspoon has described the project as an opportunity to deepen the character’s story while introducing her to a new generation of viewers.
Rising actor Lexi Minetree stars as a young Elle Woods, supported by June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as her parents, alongside an ensemble cast of classmates and recurring characters. The series is created by Laura Kittrell, co-showrun with Caroline Dries, with Jason Moore directing the opening episodes.
By revisiting a familiar character through a more intimate lens, Elle blends nostalgia with fresh perspective, offering a lighter, heartfelt look at how confidence is built long before the courtroom. Check it out on Prime Video this July.
