Disney+ Hotstar has released the official trailer for Alien: Earth, a new sci-fi drama series from FX set within the iconic Alien franchise. Created for television by Fargo and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley, the series is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, with the first two episodes launching together. The remaining six episodes of the eight-part series will air weekly on Wednesdays.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth introduces viewers to a dystopian future ruled by five mega-corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this so-called “Corporate Era,” humanity coexists with cyborgs, synthetics, and now a new class of beings—hybrids, humanoid robots infused with human consciousness. The first of these hybrids, “Wendy,” portrayed by Sydney Chandler, becomes central to the unfolding events.
The story begins when a deep space research vessel, the USCSS Maginot, crash-lands on Earth near Prodigy City, triggering a chain of events that unearths a terrifying extraterrestrial threat. Wendy and a team of tactical soldiers must confront the unknown, as dark secrets from the corporate world collide with horrors from beyond the stars.
The production boasts an international ensemble cast including Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Babou Ceesay, and Jonathan Ajayi. The FX series is executive produced by Noah Hawley alongside Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1979 Alien film, as well as David W. Zucker, Dana Gonzales, Joseph Iberti, and Clayton Krueger.
Produced by FX Productions, the series promises to expand the Alien universe with a fresh storyline, exploring themes of identity, corporate dominance, and the pursuit of immortality. Alien: Earth premieres 13 August exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia.
