Chef Louis Han brings GU:UM back to ATAS for an extended Kuala Lumpur residency

Share

The RuMa Hotel and Residences is welcoming back MICHELIN-starred Chef Louis Han for a four-month residency at ATAS, marking the return of GU:UM, his contemporary Korean steakhouse, to Kuala Lumpur.

The residency follows Chef Han’s successful appearance at ATAS earlier this year and represents GU:UM’s first extended collaboration in the city. It also continues ATAS Key Tables, The RuMa‘s signature dining series that brings internationally recognised chefs to Kuala Lumpur through longer-term culinary collaborations rather than one-off guest appearances.

Inspired by the shared values of MICHELIN-starred dining and MICHELIN Key hospitality, the series creates opportunities for cultural exchange while introducing local diners to acclaimed international dining concepts.

For the residency, Chef Han presents a menu centred on Korean flavours interpreted through live-fire cooking and contemporary techniques. The experience begins with dishes such as Yukhwae Jeon, Mulhwae and GU’s signature KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower), before progressing to charcoal-grilled specialities including Hanwoo Lower Loin, Woodae Galbi Short Rib and a Surf & Turf Platter.

The menu also draws on everyday Korean comfort food with Uncle Lulu’s Fried Rice, GU’s Cold Japchae, Sujebi Mac & Cheese and Doenjang Jjigae, reflecting the familiar flavours and recipes that have shaped Chef Han’s culinary approach. Desserts include Hotteok, Mandarin Bingsu and Koguma Mousse.

Running for four months at ATAS, the residency offers diners in Kuala Lumpur an extended opportunity to experience GU’s contemporary Korean cuisine through Chef Louis Han’s signature approach to live-fire cooking, seasonal ingredients and modern interpretations of Korean classics. It is the latest chapter in The RuMa’s ATAS Key Tables series, which continues to bring acclaimed international chefs and distinctive dining concepts to the city.
