1 Hotel Copenhagen

The Danish capital just welcomed a new eco-conscious gem with the opening of 1 Hotel Copenhagen, a nature-forward retreat redefining sustainable luxury in the heart of the city. Located in the former Skt. Petri building on Krystalgade, this marks the first European flagship for the mission-driven 1 Hotels brand—known for merging biophilic design with wellness-focused hospitality.

Inspired by Copenhagen’s reputation for design, sustainability, and livability, the hotel is a seamless blend of Danish craftsmanship and nature-infused interiors. Expect calming spaces filled with reclaimed wood, stone, organic textiles, and lush greenery that shifts with the seasons. From a dramatic living wall to tree-filled atriums and herb-planted terraces, nature plays a starring role.

Living Spaces

With 252 rooms and 30 suites, the hotel’s accommodations embrace a minimal, sensory approach. Think rainfall showers, stone basins, sustainably sourced bedding, and locally inspired mini-bar offerings like Gro cold-pressed juices and Bornholm Pære Snaps. In-room yoga mats and Bamford bath products add a wellness touch, infused with soothing botanicals like peppermint and lavender.

Food lovers are in for a treat: award-winning Chef Chantelle Nicholson leads the hotel’s food and beverage program, emphasizing low-waste, seasonal cooking. Fjora, the signature restaurant, showcases local mushrooms from Copenhagen’s Funga Farm, edible flowers, and wild herbs, while PÆRE, the hotel bar, serves seasonal cocktails infused with foraged botanicals. Guests can also enjoy complimentary local fruit from The Farmstand in the lobby.

Immersive Stays

Beyond great design and food, 1 Hotel Copenhagen curates immersive experiences to connect guests with nature and community. Programming includes yoga, sound baths, art workshops, and live DJ sets on weekends. Local art installations—crafted from materials like seagrass and foraged fungi—celebrate the city’s creative energy and environmental ethos.

True to the 1 Hotels mission, sustainability is woven into every detail—from district heating powered by waste, to reused furnishings, and collaborations with local nonprofits like JunkFood and ByBi. Even the room keys are made of wood, and notecards are printed on seed paper.

1 Hotel Copenhagen will welcome a Bamford Wellness Spa in 2026, offering holistic treatments in line with the brand’s regenerative philosophy.
