Seiko Aaron Chia

Seiko Malaysia has proudly announced the appointment of Malaysian badminton world champion and Olympic medallist Aaron Chia as its latest Prospex Brand Friend. The partnership celebrates Seiko’s enduring legacy of precision, performance, and pushing boundaries — values mirrored in both Chia’s career and the Prospex collection.

The announcement coincides with the global launch of the Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 Limited Edition, honouring Seiko’s role as official timekeeper for the upcoming global event.

Ace On The Court

As Malaysia’s first men’s doubles world champion, Aaron Chia is celebrated for his lightning-fast reflexes, tactical brilliance, and unwavering pursuit of excellence. His rise from local courts to international podiums mirrors Seiko’s commitment to innovation and peak performance.

“In badminton, every second counts — a split-second decision can change everything,” said Chia. “That’s why I admire Prospex; it shares the same dedication to precision and performance that I strive for in every match. I’m honoured to represent the brand and hope to inspire others to push their limits.”

All In For Sport

Seiko’s involvement in sports timing dates back to the 1960s, with landmark innovations such as Japan’s first chronograph and the original automatic Speedtimer. Since 1987, the brand has served as the trusted timekeeper for the World Athletics Championships — a tradition that continues in 2025 as the event returns to Tokyo for the first time in over three decades.

Limited-Edition Timer

To mark this occasion, Seiko has unveiled the Speedtimer SSC955, a solar-powered chronograph limited to 6,000 pieces worldwide. The dial features a striking shade of “Edo purple,” inspired by the historical name of Tokyo, and officially chosen as the signature colour of the 2025 championships.

Powered by Seiko’s solar Caliber V192, the watch includes a 60-minute chronograph, 24-hour sub-dial, and a six-month power reserve when fully charged. Designed for clarity and comfort, it combines a highly legible dial, curved sapphire crystal, and a polished stainless-steel bracelet.

The SSC955 is now available at Seiko Boutiques and authorised retailers, combining sport, heritage, and cutting-edge innovation in one standout timepiece.
