Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Hybrid Is A Proper Supercar

Share

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Hybrid (T-Hybrid) is exceptionally fast due to its innovative, motorsport-derived electric exhaust turbocharger (eTurbo) and a powerful, lightweight electric motor integrated into the transmission, which combine to deliver near-instant torque, eliminating turbo lag and providing almost immediate boost.

This car is remarkably fast hitting 0-100 km/h in just under 3.0 seconds due to a performance-first hybrid strategy that priorities instant response over fuel economy

Using eTurbo technology, an electric motor is placed directly on the turbocharger shaft, allowing it to spin up instantly, delivering maximum boost regardless of engine speed.

So, why is there no turbo lag? Well, the electric motor acts as a booster, eliminating the delay between pressing the accelerator and getting power, resulting in the instant responsiveness.

Then there is an electric motor in the transmission. This second electric motor (integrated into the 8-speed PDK transmission) provides additional power and torque to the rear wheels, enhancing acceleration.

The above system uses a compact 1.9 kWh high-voltage battery (similar to the 911 Carrera GTS), which keeps the weight down while providing enough power for the electric components. The entire hybrid setup adds only about 50 kg (110 lbs), keeping the car agile enough to beat the previous non-hybrid version’s Nürburgring lap time by nearly 9 seconds.

Plus, unlike plug-in hybrids, the T-Hybrid system is self-charging through recuperation (braking and exhaust energy), so it never needs to be plugged in.

Even without the hybrid bits, this engine is more powerful than the previous model, but it was specifically designed to work in tandem with the 400V electrical system for a combined output of 532hp.

Step inside this 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S (992.2) cabin and it now offers a highly digitalized yet familiar, luxurious, and driver-focused environment. Key features include a standard 12.6-inch curved digital instrument cluster with classic 5-dial layouts, a 10.9-inch infotainment screen, standard leather and a wireless charging pad to maintain a clean, uncluttered aesthetic.

This generation 911 replaces analog tachometers with a fully digital instrument cluster, including a digital start/stop button like with the Taycan electric supercar.

For a supercar, this latest 911 is a comfortable place to be in and with a good view on the sides and rear for city traffic driving. Yes, its wider than older 911’s but its still enough to dart in and out of traffic once you get used to its size and also ‘sweet spot’ power delivery.

The mid-range ‘punch’ is intoxicating and this car urges the driver to ‘push’ it as much as possible. When you get into heavy ‘office hour’ traffic, it is docile and the premium sound system keeps the driver sane.

It is easily another daily driver for those with the necessary bank balance. Fact, this is an “everyday supercar,” blending high performance with refined comfort and enough isolation for long-distance driving.
