A new era of upscale tourism is set to begin on Vietnam’s iconic Ha Long Bay with the opening of the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort in summer 2025. Positioned in the exclusive Ha Long Marina Urban Area near Bai Chay, the resort will be the first true luxury destination in this UNESCO World Heritage Site, blending cultural richness with modern indulgence.

Developed by InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, the property will feature 174 guestrooms and suites, 60 residences, and 41 private villas. Designed by renowned firms WATG and P49Deesign, the architecture draws inspiration from Vietnam’s myths and landscapes—most notably the legend of the “descending dragon” that gives Ha Long Bay its name.
Guests can expect curated experiences including luxury bay cruises, visits to hidden caves and fishing villages, and a wide range of recreational options. A standout feature is the resort’s Roku & Sky Bar, offering Japanese cuisine and panoramic rooftop views, and Yulong Mansion, specializing in modern Cantonese fare with theatrical tableside preparations.

Wellness is a key focus, with spa services by Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi, three outdoor pools, a kids’ club, and family-friendly activities like archery and beach volleyball. The resort also supports global travellers with jet lag assistance via the Timeshifter app and science-backed culinary programming to reduce fatigue.
Business and event travellers will find five modern venues including a Grand Ballroom for up to 1,050 guests, outdoor gardens, and terraces ideal for weddings or corporate gatherings. Just two hours from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort aims to become a premier base for travellers exploring one of Vietnam’s most breathtaking natural wonders.
