LEGOLAND School Challenge Returns In 2026 With New Theme
Share
LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort has launched the fifth edition of the LEGOLAND School Challenge, bringing together students from across Asia to explore creativity, collaboration and innovation through LEGO-based learning.
Since its introduction in 2022, the competition has expanded from a local initiative into a regional platform, drawing hundreds of school submissions. Organised in partnership with Ministry of Education Malaysia, the challenge continues to promote hands-on learning across Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), guided by the LEGO philosophy of learning through play.
Designing the Ultimate Theme Park Ride

For 2026, the competition centres on the theme “The Ultimate Theme Park Ride.” Students are tasked with designing imaginative attractions that combine storytelling, creativity and functionality.
Teams of three to four participants will compete across three categories: Junior (7–9 years), Primary (10–12 years) and Secondary (13–17 years). Each team must create a LEGO model that includes a clearly defined ride vehicle, while additional points can be earned through moving elements and detailed displays.
Beyond construction, participants are also required to present a short written concept explaining their design, encouraging both creative thinking and communication skills.
Enhanced Finale Experience

This year’s edition introduces several updates aimed at increasing the challenge’s intensity and engagement. A revised Live Speed Build Finale will now contribute 30% of the total score, making it a more significant factor in determining winners. Finalists will also be given extended build time, with one hour to complete a surprise challenge revealed on the day.
A new Parents and Teachers Challenge adds a collaborative element, inviting educators and family members to participate in a short build session alongside students.
Regional Opportunities and Prizes
Top-performing teams will advance to the Grand Finale at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, where they will compete in person and showcase their creations to park visitors.
Winners in the Primary and Secondary categories will receive a trip to LEGOLAND Shanghai, while Junior category champions will win a stay at LEGOLAND Malaysia. Additional rewards include annual passes, LEGO sets and official certificates.
Registration runs from 13 March to 26 April 2026, followed by online submissions in June. The Grand Finale is scheduled to take place in September 2026 at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.
