Hwajing Travel is the pioneer in chartering the first cruise homeporting in Malaysia

Hwajing Travel & Tours made history on 14 December 2024, by becoming the first company to be recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records for launching the first International Chartered Cruise Homeporting in Malaysia.

This prestigious milestone was celebrated aboard the Costa Serena, which sailed on a three-day journey from Port Klang to Penang from 13 to 15 December 2024. The ceremony took place at Penang’ s Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal, where YBhg. Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Chairman of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, presented the certificate to Kenny Cheong, Managing Director of Hwajing Travel & Tours.

In his speech, Dato’ Yeoh highlighted that this achievement is a significant step for Malaysia’s cruise tourism industry, enhancing the country’s global standing as a cruise hub while stimulating economic growth and promoting Malaysia’s beauty.

Mr. Cheong expressed his gratitude for the recognition, noting that this achievement reflects the company’s commitment to positioning Malaysia as a top travel destination. Hwajing Travel & Tours’ efforts to boost Malaysia’s cruise tourism began with the inaugural season of Costa Serena earlier in 2024.

Notably, the company is also supporting local businesses, particularly in the Port Klang area. The Costa Serena is the only cruise ship sailing from Port Klang to Phuket in December, offering a seamless and affordable vacation option. Guests can indulge in a variety of dining experiences, including authentic Italian and Asian cuisines, with highlights such as freshly made pizza at Pizzeria Pummid’Oro and creamy gelato at Gelataria Ciccolateria Amarillo.
