Equatorial Group has partnered with ONYX Hospitality Group to co-develop a luxurious new outpost in Phuket, Thailand. set to open in 2028. This strategic joint venture combines Equatorial’s prestigious EQ brand with ONYX’s diverse portfolio, which includes renowned names like Amari, OZO, and Shama.

A Huge Milestone

The official signing ceremony, held on 18 November 2024, marks a significant milestone for both companies, bringing their expertise in hospitality to one of Thailand’s top tourist destinations. Located on the iconic Kata Beach in Phuket, the EQ Phuket will offer guests breathtaking hilltop views and direct beach access, setting it apart from other resorts in the area.

With a projected investment of THB 2.5 billion, the resort will feature 180 spacious units and a wide range of world-class amenities, including restaurants and entertainment facilities. Designed by a leading architect, the property promises a perfect blend of tranquillity and beachfront activity, catering to both short and long-haul travellers.

Equatorial Group’s flagship EQ hotel in Kuala Lumpur has already raised the bar for luxury hospitality in Malaysia, and earning numerous accolades. With its strong focus on quality and guest satisfaction, Equatorial brings its expertise in high-end hospitality to this exciting project.

Donald Lim, CEO of Equatorial, shared that this venture represents the expansion of the EQ brand into international markets, elevating the hospitality scene in the region. Sustainability is a key focus in the design of EQ Phuket. The development will preserve large trees and dedicate 50 percent of the area to green space, ensuring the resort blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings.
