CIGA Design Time Cipher Watch Launch: Wandering Hour Timepiece Malaysia

Time Cipher

CIGA Design has introduced Time Cipher, a new mechanical watch that rethinks how time is displayed through a wandering-hour complication. The release follows the brand’s recognition at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and continues its focus on unconventional watch design.

Time Cipher centres on a simplified wandering-hour system, where a rotating disc indicates the hour while a single moving element tracks the minutes. The watch is powered by the in-house Calibre CD-08, based on the Miyota 9000 series, offering a 42-hour power reserve and a steady, high-frequency movement adapted for this complication.

Visually, the piece is defined by its “Super Black” dial, designed to absorb most light and emphasise the motion of the display. Minimal detailing, including engraved indices and subtle lume, keeps the focus on the shifting elements at the centre. The 316L stainless steel case measures 11.8mm thick, with a clean, lug-less profile that prioritises wearability.

Rather than emphasising technical complexity, Time Cipher leans into restraint, presenting time as a continuous, gradual movement instead of something instantly read. The watch is now available in Malaysia through Red Army Watches boutiques, including locations at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and 1 Utama Shopping Centre, as well as online.
