Bvlgari has made a strong statement at Dubai Watch Week 2025, unveiling a rare collaborative masterpiece: the Mattar Bin Lahej x Octo Finissimo. The event, running from 19–23 November under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, sees the Roman jeweller spotlighting creativity, cultural dialogue and high-end watchmaking.

The Octo Finissimo has long served as a symbol of radical elegance, merging geometric Roman-inspired design with Swiss technical mastery. Over the years it has become a platform for artistic expression, thanks to its minimalist architecture. This year, Bvlgari elevates that idea with Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej, known for his flowing calligraphic style. The partnership brings a new layer of cultural depth to the ultra-thin icon.

A Decade of Record-Breaking Innovation

Since 2014, the Octo Finissimo line has repeatedly redefined modern watchmaking, setting ten world records for thinness. From the pioneering Tourbillon to the Minute Repeater — the world’s thinnest chiming watch — Bvlgari has continually expanded the limits of engineering. The 2022 Octo Finissimo Ultra, at just 1.80 mm, became the thinnest mechanical watch ever made, a feat crowned by the Aiguille d’Or at the 2023 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

Guided by Executive Director of Product Creation Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, the Octo Finissimo has evolved into a true design icon. His creative exchange with Bin Lahej united Italian precision with Arabic artistic flow, resulting in a watch that represents both cultures with equal strength.

The Dubai Watch Week Experience

At Dubai Mall’s Burj Park, the Bvlgari booth offers an immersive experience. Visitors can discover the collaboration piece showcased against marble and metal accents featuring Mattar’s signature calligraphy. Live watchmaking demonstrations and dedicated seating areas give guests an intimate view of the craftsmanship behind the Maison’s creations.Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari CEO and head of LVMH’s Watch Division, highlighted the importance of the event, noting the strong presence of LVMH brands and the region’s longstanding passion for fine watchmaking.

The Mattar Bin Lahej x Octo Finissimo

The limited edition — just 70 pieces — features laser-engraved Arabic calligraphy across its titanium case, bracelet and dial. The inscription is inspired by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum:

“The future will be for those who can imagine, design, and implement it… the future does not wait, but it can be designed and built today.” The result is a blend of artistic emotion and technical precision, further cementing the Octo Finissimo as a bridge between heritage and modern vision.
