Witness the beautiful union of Asymmetry and SculptureCenter through a celebration of art
Starting in Summer 2025, SculptureCenter in New York will launch the Asymmetry Curatorial Fellowship, marking its first international partnership and collaboration beyond Europe. This 20-month, full-time position is designed for emerging curators, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a leading U.S. art institution.
The Responsibility Of Partnership
The Asymmetry Curatorial Fellow will be immersed in SculptureCenter’s vibrant curatorial team with Curator Jovanna Venegas. Responsibilities will include supporting research, exhibition development, and public programs, primarily focusing on the centre’s In Practice open call initiative.
Candidates with expertise in Chinese and Sinophone cultural ecosystems are especially encouraged to apply. The fellowship will open for applications through an international call, with the selected fellow announced in Spring/Summer 2025. The program runs until 2 April 2027.
For Asia
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between SculptureCenter and Asymmetry, a London-based nonprofit committed to nurturing curatorial talent with a focus on Asia and its diaspora. Asymmetry has established partnerships with prestigious institutions like Tate Modern and Goldsmiths University, creating a network that fosters innovative curatorial practices.
SculptureCenter, founded by artists in 1928, champions contemporary art by emphasising sculpture’s role in reshaping cultural narratives. The centre is dedicated to showcasing emerging voices and supporting artists through commissions and production funds.
Shared Vision Made Into Reality
Both organisations share a vision of enhancing cross-cultural dialogue and advancing diversity within the art world. They aim to inspire the next generation of curators to contribute meaningfully to the arts ecosystem.
As creatives embark on this partnership, leaders from both SculptureCenter and Asymmetry express enthusiasm for the new perspectives. The fellowship will no doubt help elevate New York’s vibrant art scene by fostering a rich, inclusive artistic community.
