Vietnam Makes A Play For Asia’s Golf Crown

Share

The Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) is preparing for a landmark year in 2026, as Central Vietnam builds on sustained tourism growth and rising international recognition to cement its status as one of Asia’s leading golf destinations.

Confidence within the sector mirrors Vietnam’s broader economic momentum, with the country frequently highlighted in international business commentary for its strong growth trajectory.

Increased Appeal

On the fairways of Central Vietnam, a similar upward trend is evident, as increasing numbers of long-haul travellers choose the region for golf-focused holidays.

A combination of championship courses, luxury beachfront resorts and cultural attractions has helped shape the area’s appeal. Enhanced infrastructure — particularly the steady expansion of international routes into Da Nang International Airport — has further strengthened its accessibility for key markets including Europe, Australasia and North America.

World Class Greens

Among the region’s flagship venues, Ba Na Hills Golf Club will mark its 10th anniversary in 2026. Since opening in 2016, the club has earned multiple international accolades, including repeated honours at the World Golf Awards and World Luxury Travel Awards. Its continued recognition has played a central role in elevating Central Vietnam’s global golf profile.

Alongside Montgomerie Links, Ba Na Hills anchors a collection of courses designed by some of the sport’s most respected figures, including Luke Donald, Colin Montgomerie and Greg Norman. This concentration of design pedigree has become a defining feature of the destination.

Montgomerie Links enters 2026 following a strong performance in 2025, having retained its position as the most-played course in the Hue–Da Nang corridor.

Growth has been driven largely by European, Australian and New Zealand markets, with further outreach planned in Asia, including Japan and India.

Beyond the fairways, a lively events calendar will add further appeal. The annual Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, alongside seasonal cultural festivals celebrating ties with Korea and Japan, is expected to broaden the region’s draw and encourage extended stays.

With improving connectivity, sustained investment and a maturing international reputation, Central Vietnam appears well positioned to consolidate its rise in 2026 — reinforcing the Vietnam Golf Coast’s ambition to stand among Asia’s truly elite golf destinations.
