Enjoy the grandeur of ‘Cirque De La Symphonie’ at the DFP again

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is one more presenting concerts of spectacular magnitudes themed Cirque de la Symphonie on Friday, 2 February 2024 and Saturday, 3 February 2024 at 8.30 pm at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), KLCC.

Fourth Time’s The Charm

This will be the fourth time that the MPO is presenting a musical offering of this scale with the previous cirque offerings being presented in 2015, 2018 and 2020 which all received critical acclaim.

The MPO will recreate the breathtaking musical fusion of circus and classical music complete with cirque acts such as aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers and strongmen. This exciting production is designed to bring the magic of cirque to the concert hall, adding much energy and vigour to the whole concert experience and elevating cirque artistry to a fine arts level.

How It Began

Founder and circus veteran, Alexander Streltsov, created the concept of cirque paired with symphony in 1998. His music and programming sensibilities combined with performance background provides stunning visual and music elements with classical masterpieces perfectly choreographed to the elegant movements of the cirque artists.

On top of that, in this concert, the cirque artists will provide a three-dimensional entertainment extravaganza with jaw-dropping spectacle and astonishing acrobatic feats, fused with the power and majesty of the ‘live’ symphonic orchestral music by the MPO under the baton of its Resident Conductor Gerard Salonga.

What to Expect

Among the works that the MPO will include are Rimsky-Korsakov’s Danse des Bouffons, Gluck’s Danse of The Furies, Chabrier’s Espana, Williams’ Flight to Neverland (from ‘Hook’), Sibelius’ Finlandia and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
