The Hyatt Centric explores the heritage of North Borneo

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has just announced the opening of their new Hyatt Centric in Kota Kinabalu. This marks the expansion of the brand’s rapidly growing lifestyle brand in not just Malaysia but also in Southeast Asia.

More importantly, this 222-room hotel will be located in the heart of the city’s lively dining and entertainment district which will provide guests with a convenient all-in-one spot to explore and discover authentic Malaysian experiences as well as the hidden gems this coastal capital of Sabah has to offer.

David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt, said, “We are delighted to introduce Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu as Hyatt’s first Hyatt Centric hotel in Southeast Asia, setting a new milestone for our rapidly expanding lifestyle brand.”Hyatt Centric

“Building on Hyatt’s brand presence in Malaysia for over 40 years, we are excited that this hotel will offer fresh experiences through this new launchpad from which savvy travelers can discover the natural beauty and local experiences around Kota Kinabalu and beyond.” He added.

Moreover, this 23 storey hotel spoils guests with it’s modern guest rooms complete with a balcony, infinity pool, duplex restaurant and rooftop bar, all of which offer guests a mesmerizing view atop the gorgeous Signal Hill, the islands at Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and the South China Sea.

The Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu is also located in a prime location, being a short walk away shopping hot spots and the the Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal which allows guests the chance to step away from dry land and experience a memorable 20-minute boat trip around the surrounding islands and sandy beaches.

Additionally, the Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu is also the perfect holiday getaway destination for business travellers as it is very close to the Sabah International Convention Centre, a sports complex and a university while the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) is a 15-minute drive from the hotel too.

The best part of it all is that this hotel is set against the backdrop of the lush Signal Hill, which gives the entire spot a contemporary and inviting vibe while the interior oozes with quality being designed by world renowned architect, Kengo Kuma, to  specifically reflect the beautiful heritage of Sabah.

Ruben Schrijver, general manager, stated, “Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu truly embraces the city’s flourishing cultural and culinary scenes, from our ON22 restaurant and ON23 rooftop bar serving traditional family recipes with a modern twist and locally inspired craft cocktails respectively, to guided tours of the colorful street art in the neighbourhood, led by our hotel team.”Hyatt Centric
