Cartier relaunches The Tank Francaise Watch
The Cartier classic is back and better than before
The iconic Tank Francaise watch returns with Cartier in 2023. You know the drill by now, new year, new you, but what if you could upgrade your style with something that is not technically new? Well French Maison, Cartier has just the thing for you, with the relaunching of its iconic watch.
First launched in 1996, the iconic Tank Francaise watch debuted the metal bracelet that worked in perfect harmony with the watch case. This made the watch extremely desirable and it instantly became a member of the great Tank family. So why is the Maison relaunching it? Well as the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
For this year, the Tank Francaise watch takes its look and evolves it into a new monobloc metal design. This new look is both aesthetic and ergonomic as it energises the ultra-profiled lines of the watch. The crown is now also integrated into the case and the dial has a new finish to it.
Marie-Laure Cerede, Jewellery & Watchmaking Creative Director at Cartier, said, “The new Tank Française reflects a creative conviction. Like rediscovering the raw nature of a cut stone, it was about capturing the watch’s radical shape, simplifying its essential lines and stripping them of all embellishment to return to the myth’s origin.”.
What’s more, the new Tank Francaise watch is more than just a timepiece, it is an expression of an unmistakable avant-garde spirit. The watch connects you to Paris, to its freedom and creativity, to a cultural geography that was so well captured by New Wave cinema. What more could anyone ask for in a watch?
What’s more, with the relaunching of the Tank Francaise watch will also include a promotional campaign directed by Guy Ritchie featuring Catherine Deneuve and Rami Malek. The film is a tribute to cinema and to the idea of creative freedom upheld by the Maison.
Additionally, the Tank Francaise watch will be available in steel for all sizes and yellow gold, with or without diamonds for small and medium models only. The small and medium models will be equipped with a high autonomy quartz movement whilst the large model will feature a mechanical movement with automatic winding instead.
