Experience the large-scale site-specific Attune installation and be blown away
Get ready to be captivated by Alexandra Pirici’s latest masterpiece, Attune. This major new site-specific installation, featuring live performative action, will take over the Historic Hall of Hamburger Bahnhof, Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart from 25 April to 6 October 6 2024. Pirici’s work invites visitors to marvel at the intelligence and wonder of self-structuring matter, both organic and inorganic, and to appreciate the vibrancy of our world.
Contemporary Art
Attune is the inaugural piece in a fresh series of annual commissions launching at Gallery Weekend Berlin. Co-commissioned by Hamburger Bahnhof and Audemars Piguet Contemporary, and co-funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, this immersive experience explores the intricate relationships and mutual influences between humans and non-humans.
Moreover, Pirici’s installation transforms the Historic Hall into an enchanting landscape, blending active sculptural elements with live performances and polyphonic music, choreographed and composed by Pirici herself. In collaboration with long-time partner Andrei Dinu, Pirici creates a space where chemical reactions, mineral formations, and physical phenomena interact with living bodies, celebrating the continuum between animate and inanimate matter.
Intriguing Pieces
Visitors will also encounter a myriad of fascinating elements, such as a stainless steel vine-like sculpture, a shape-shifting sand dune, a spiralling platform, plants, mineral formations, and chemical gardens. These components highlight the beauty of self-organising processes and patterns, offering insight into the emergence of life and evolution.
This exhibition marks Pirici’s second collaboration with Audemars Piguet Contemporary, following the success of Encyclopedia of Relations at the 2022 Venice Biennale. With Attune, Pirici expands her artistic practice on a grander scale, integrating fixed structures with dynamic live action.
Curated by Catherine Nichols of Hamburger Bahnhof, Attune is accompanied by the fifth edition of the Hamburger Bahnhof’s catalogue series, published by Silvana Editoriale Milano. The exhibition is co-funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to experience Alexandra Pirici’s vision of the interconnectedness of all matter, brought to life in one of Berlin’s most iconic venues.
